The airport is now going to be more than just the alternative of a backup, thanks to the gradual increase of passenger traffic and the addition of more airlines with their new routes. But this growing popularity is leading to the wear and tear of its limited infrastructure; hence, expansion and upgrades are necessary for its future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Background&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From its original purpose as a <strong>military facility, in 2019<\/strong>, <strong>Hindon was opened for civilian use<\/strong> under the regional connectivity scheme. In the beginning, flights could only go to nearby small regional destinations. In the long run, however, airlines like <strong>IndiGo and Air India Express<\/strong> made it possible for the travelers to fly to the big metros like <strong>Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.<\/strong> For the majority of the passengers coming from Ghaziabad and Noida, this small airport is a hassle-free, quicker, and oftentimes, a cheaper option compared to Indira Gandhi International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Aspects<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Growing Passenger Traffic: <\/strong>Hindon is attracting travelers who want to avoid Delhi&#8217;s severe congestion and high fares. Besides, the ticket prices are more often than not lower; and for persons living in the eastern NCR, getting to the airport takes less time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Limited Facilities:<\/strong> The terminal has only two boarding gates, a few security lanes, and offers very limited retail or dining options, so it is functional but basic. Besides, there is a small cafeteria, modest waiting areas, and also limited parking, all of which are the airport&#8217;s features yet fall short amid the rising traffic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Operational Pressure:<\/strong> The terminal was constructed to accommodate around 550 passengers every hour but it is already surpassing that number on the busiest days. The passageways for cars and people during peak periods become very crowded..<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Planned Improvements:<\/strong> The responsible persons are striving to increase the facilities \u2014 floating tenders for additional food outlets, retail stores, and cab services. Its location is especially advantageous for the residents of Ghaziabad, Noida, and surrounding regions. Moreover, with the nearing completion of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Noida_International_Airport\"><strong>Noida International Airport<\/strong><\/a><strong>, <\/strong>Hindon may be able to serve as a complementary node, which will thereby help in the more efficient distribution of flight operations in the entire region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hindon Airport has been developing since its inception as a small airport. The increasing demand shows that passengers are willing to sacrifice luxury and infrastructure for the convenience of low fares and easy access.
