India is taking major steps to improve air connectivity in Uttarakhand, especially for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra. Civil Aviation Minister Shri Ram Mohan Naidu recently met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Ministry of Civil Aviation to review the overall aviation infrastructure in the hill state.
Restarting helicopter services for the Char Dham Yatra (a major pilgrimage in Uttarakhand) was one of the most important points discussed.
Every year, thousands of devotees make the Char Dham pilgrimage (Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri). Given the arduous mountainous terrain in the area, the government intends to ensure that the devotees get secure, safe, and pleasant travel during the Char Dham Yatra by means of helicopters.
